Q. While trying to set up apb search I get error message saying: Can't open the file your/full/path/to/searchindex.dat. Permission denied. Please, check your file permissions. A. File searchindex.dat already exists, but has wrong access permissions. Chmod this file to 666 or delete it, the script will create the file with correct permissions. Q. While trying to set up apb search I get error message saying: Can't open file your/full/path/to/some/file. Permission denied. Check file permissions. A. The script is trying to open file with no read permissions. This file probably should not be included in index. Hit back button on your browser and exclude the file. However, if you really wish to include this file, set world read permissions to this file (444). Q. While trying to set up apb search I get error message saying: Can't create directory your/full/path/to/data. Permission denied. Check your directory permissions. A. The script cannot create directory your/full/path/to/data. Chmod parent directory (probably cgi-bin) to 666 and run setup again. Or you can create /data directory yourself and chmod it to 777. Q. While trying to set up apb search I get error message saying: Can't open directory your/full/path/to/some/directory. Permission denied. Check directory permissions or exclude this directory from index file (go back to the previous page and uncheck this directory). A. You should not include files in this directory in your search index. You don't have access to this directory since it is probably managed only by your system administrator. Hit back button on your browser and uncheck this directory. Q. While trying to set up apb search I get error message saying: Can't open directory your/full/path/to/basedirectory. No such file or directory. Your base directory was not set correctly. Check spelling or contact your system administrator for your correct base directory. A. Ftp managers (such are WS_FTP95 or CuteFTP) use to display your top directory (usually public_html or www) without full path to it. Try to look up this path in your member account info or in FAQ of your ISP. Maybe you should contact your system administrator. Q. I've set up searchindex.dat correctly, but after running search from my site, I always get 0 results, although I search for words that are in index. A. Problem is probably in your search form. You should use name=search in your input tag and method=get in your form tag. Q. Can I edit search results page? A. Yes, we recommend you to change searchtop.html and searchbottom.html to suit your design. Q. Can I edit search.cgi and/or archive.cgi? A. Yes, if you are familiar with PERL, you can edit these scripts, but you should leave copyright notice and top headers intact. | |||||||||||||||||
